Janjua – Certified Life Coach
Hi! I am Yasmine Janjua, the founder and sole owner of
Guiding Life. I
thought it would only be fair to share a little bit about my 10 years
experience within the social services field, which includes experiences
in Canada, Ireland and England.
It all started with the completion of a law and a youth work college
qualification from Canada. My first placement was in a
residential program for teenage girls. Recognizing my
talents for engaging with teenagers, I moved on to work full
time with adolescents in a mental health residential treatment
group home.
After a few years, I decided to move across the great Atlantic pond to
Ireland, where I assisted with the development of an adolescent secure
treatment facility. Having an appreciation for the cultural
experience, I also learned that I don't work well within a secure
setting and so with Itchy feet striking again
I moved on to England, where I managed the development and
implementation of a pilot UK youth justice initiative.
Being able to manage a team of youth justice officers and the
project itself was a challenge to meet, but not as gratifying as the
challenge of working with young people direct and so I moved onto
another government youth service provision
initiative. Recognizing the need for growth, I completed a
Personal Advisor Diploma from Brunel University and my Life Coaching
Certificate from Newcastle College. I was also
afforded
opportunities to incorporate many of my interests in sports and
outdoor activities to my work with young people. I gained valuable
training and experiences leading youth groups on camping expeditions
and other outdoor activities.
I returned to Canada to work within a Children’s Mental Health
Centre – as an Intensive Child and Family Therapist.
This position highlighted the need for additional practical
resources. I decided to venture into private practice where I
believe - Guiding
Life can
fill this gap.
Guiding
Life provides
a high level of quality service, offering intensive advisory services
to youth, families, local education authority/schools, social
services/child protection and other community organizations. We
also work in partnership with other personal coaches
and service professionals to offer group based programs and
workshops.
Our Guiding
Life practitioners
are able to maintain our high quality service through retaining full
membership in good standing with the Association for Coaching (UK) or
other relevant associations, and continuous professional development
through further training and certifications.
